Kutty Story on Quantum - Wrap of my Quantum Odyssey 2024

First of all if you have made to this page, thanks for making. Just a note the following will be a personal blog about my journey on Quantum tech in 2024. If at all you know me in person you might like the story and if you are someone who is working in Quantum Tech you might have some key takeaways. Again this going to be completely about Me and Quantum, so I’ll be bragging myself here and there. Ok Let’s dive…

What you Seek is Seeking you !

I personally believe that Quantum is the one opted me and I’m just dancing through it, anyway I have to dance carefully hereafter. This year started with Bangg!! As a batch we have started Quantum Club at IIT Jodhpur and the whole batch elected me as Secretary, that moment I decided that it going to be a huge responsibility, since I was completely new to this field at that time and there are lot of Scholars in campus are already working extensively in Quantum tech for years. Anyways I knew that I can handle this, however most places I have struggled a lot but there are some constant friend who helped be all the time. Added on top of that I’m the placement coordinator for the department(still struggling to full-fill the requirements).

Apart from that the I have completed way advanced courses such as Open Quantum Systems, Quantum Cryptography, Quantum Machine Learning, Quantum Algorithms, Quantum inspired optimization. Believe me these are super hot top notch exotic courses in the world. I was so happy to take courses from Professors like Prof, Subashish Banerjee, Prof.Naryanan, Prof.Atul Kumar. They were experts in Quantum tech itself. In particular Prof.Atul is my favourite, he is the one who literally made me to cry with his Question paper and on the same day I decided to do my thesis under him, eventually I got that too. Oh my Master Thesis Project, sure I need some series of articles to blog my thesis work. Thanks to my Mentors at Atul sir lab, my thesis strengthened my fundamentals. FYI I’m working on Quantum Machine Learning… hot hot hot hot hot……HOT max.

Dream comes true moment - IISc Bangalore

Along side with one of my batchmate Shisheer(Thanks Kid I have learned a lot from you this year), we are actively participating most of quantum events happening around global. One such was IBM QRise, where we had honour mention on our work, and that work got extended, we wrote a publication on that, at this point Harsh Mehta(the most important person for Quantum Club) joined us and we submitted the paper at IEEE CONECCT 2024 at IISc Bangalore. The paper got accepted, I went there for presentation. Oh My God !! I still rewind my first impression at IISc Main building. I dreamed about this campus like two year during my GATE prep, damn every night and every morning, IISc was the motivation.

You might have really loved something and relentlessly worked consistently for that, yet you might not get it when you wished for. However the universe connect all pieces together and make you see things work effortlessly when you need it most, and it asks you to push your limits, standard, dreams and values.

-This is what running on my end in front of IISc Main building.

And somehow I stepped in and that too publishing a paper and that too in Quantum tech and that too paper on Quantum Teleportation. At that point I had some peak adrenaline moments, and it happened at right moment to balance my personal life downs. Seriously if IISc thing hasn't happened you may not reading this blog. Perfect time, near Universal thing experience. Yes I believe in Universe. BTW please read our paper here.

Summer - 2024

Summer 2024 will be forever in my memory. A lot of things have happened both personally and professionally, one such was IISc. I was doing Womanium Quantum + AI program, seriously not so great program, since I have learned all those things from my course work already. Not to brag I even took quiz at Mumbai Airport on my way to IISc. I would say womanium program for someone entirely new to Quantum. I have also been selected as Project mentor at QWorld Internship 2024, over there I have mentored 5 interns under me, we were working in Quantum Machine Learning. This was an incredible journey, I was doing this on parallel with my MTP work, womanium and IISc conference., also some personal go through..LOL :/. Somehow I figured two interns and helped them to make final presentations. If you guys are reading this I’m extremely sorry for late replies and not helping on time. I was that busy at that moment and I’m all free now, please feel free to drop a text anytime. Apart from this a major part of MTP has been completed and I was pretty relaxed.

Quantum Club

I was morally down at many places to run the club itself, if Harsh was not there it would have been difficult for me to run the club, and moreover when we are in Quantum we are Global already. That inspiration and motivation made us to execute some things. First - Opening ceremony, we have gathered almost everyone who is working on Quantum at IIT Jodhpur. I still take this to my life’s best things, as of I know, as of till now that’s the only time where I have seen that much people working on Quantum. Next we have organised a workshop on Quantum Computing along with Classiq(an Israel based Quantum software company). And then comes Qiskit Fall Fest 2024(QFF is the world’s largest collection of student-run quantum computing events), we have been selected host IBM Qiskit Fall Fest 2024 at IIT Jodhpur among few Universities around the world. I’m attaching the list - here, you can see that only top universities has been approved for the event. I told you if you are in Quantum you are Global already. Fall fest sounded easy for me at first, but it was near impossible event to execute at IITJ. We have learned so so so sooo many things through this event. Again thanks to Harsh and Shisheer, they were the one who did most of the works. And thanks to mentors for the sessions.

Resume - Thirumalai M

With all of above mentioned and other I have made one find RESUME and personal PORTFOLIO(I literally learned frontend for this) I ever had in my life. I want you to check out both. There was a lot of certifications from IBM, QWorld, Womanium and more. I even got some accomplishment for my profile from some industry experts(again I’m bragging), however I personally felt that this is what I have achieved with this short span of time and I’m Proud of it. Much more to build, I hope 2025 will add one more page to my CV and multiple pages to my portfolio.

2025 - International Year of Quantum

I kind of like this trio - Thiru, Harsh and Shisheer. it’s like we are mix of technically sound people, who insist on high standards and handle big things. I had an idea of Open source platform that I proposed earlier of this year to shisheer, we kind of laid a foundation and we are not able to continue since we were busy with our course work and MTP. So, after fall fest I have the confidence that we can resume that product with this team. I discussed with them and we have did some decent work on that. Surprise, soon we will make it public. This idea was created by keeping in mind that 2025 gonna be International Year of Quantum and we want to be one of key contributions to this Quantum society. And I have personally planned to engage every event by 2025, I think my notion calendar will be filled everyday. Let’s hope for the same. So Yeah I was spending my most time to all these stuff and balancing personal life, so I literally stopped writing blogs on Medium. To compensate that I have planned much better things for 2025.

So leaving that I appeared for Placement interview, I went until final round, however not able to make that. All I had was appreciation from recruiters as usual and a tons and tons of this quote “You deserve better than this!“ popped out from people. Thanks to everyone, but the fact is I’m tired of this line. I will be staying in Quantum tech as much as possible, I kinda like this field so I want to contribute something from my end. I just don’t want reveal on going things, let me post once everything is done.

Growth occurs when one goes beyond one’s limits. Realizing that is also part of training.

I made amazing network out of IIT and in Quantum society. I got my guitar from my home and it is sleeping in my room , so what, I hit squash court every day, this is Amazing. For me personally sports is something in opposite direction, all through my life. But I love squash, don’t know the reason, it hits different to me. I need to be regular to Squash from 2025. And books are still sleeping on my table, ok I will be completing two books before Jan 2025.

If you made to this point, thanks for the patience. I have one surprise for you, I just want to share that whoever making to this point. I will be launching a product related Quantum Tech, I have a team and we are building currently. It will be official by January 10, 2025.

Excited for International Year of Quantum ?? So Am I.

Hit me up if you like this, I will post more. LOL Bye, thanks for reading. Cheers.

Magic happens when you don’t give up even if you want to. Universe always fall in love with stubborn heart.

With lot of Plans and Actions to 2025,

Thirumalai Manimaran

One Brave Qubit Refusing DeCoherence

Hey there,  I'm wrapping up my year long exploration around quantum tech in 2025, yes this is my second of its kind next to "Kutty Story on Quantum -  Wrap of my Quantum Odyssey 2024". To be honest I was so active by last year, yet I started my career in Quantum in 2025, a transition phase from academic to industry. Ok whatever let's wrap it up, FYI you may not expect any scientific details in quantum, its all about personal journey in Quantum tech. I was in huge disappointment by dec 2024, so I did planned lot of things as expected I'm not able to execute many. I spend very less amount of time in my thesis compared 2024, and yes it has been submitted successfully. Graduated from IIT Jodhpur - Masters in Quantum Technology. Really so thankful to QIC department, IIT Jodhpur, especially inspiring Professors such as Prof Atul Kumar, Prof V Narayanan, Prof Kirankumar Hiremath and others. I really made lot friends and all my batchmates are in very good place now, I wis...

Once Upon a time in Physics: The Birth of Quantum Physics

I was first introduced to the world of quantum mechanics through popular media like Marvel movies and online videos. As I advanced in my higher education, I found myself increasingly fascinated by the fundamental principles of quantum physics. What I realized is that the actual facts and phenomena, like quantum tunneling, quantum teleportation, quantum algorithms, quantum machine learning, quantum communication, etc., within the realm of quantum mechanics are often more astonishing and mind-boggling than the speculations and mysteries that occasionally surround them. One captivating example of this is the intriguing concept of quantum teleportation. The concept of quantum mechanics has generated a significant amount of excitement among people from various backgrounds. Quantum is no longer confined to the realms of science fiction or specialised scientific knowledge. This article aims to introduce the origins of quantum mechanics in simpler terms without delving too deeply into co...

Spooky Action at a Distance - The EPR Paradox

Einstein’s paper with his two postdoctoral research companions, Boris Podolsky and Nathan Rosen, was the great EPR paradox .”Can Quantum Mechanical Description of Physical Reality Be Considered Complete?” asks the paper.(1935). You might be surprised to learn that Einstein was the one who laid the groundwork for quantum mechanics in its early stages, only to propose that quantum physics is incomplete. Some refer to this as Einstein’s great mistake, which led to a tremendous quantum discovery. In this blog, I will discuss EPR briefly. However, it takes a fundamental understanding of quantum characteristics, which I am here to simplify. Even now, this study is regarded as one of the top ten most influential publications ever published in the field of physics. The argument over EPR continues to this day. One common misconception is that quantum communications are faster than or close to the speed of light, which is not true. EPR proposes something similar. This contradiction is argue...

Superposition and Entanglement

The two notable terms that attract people to quantum physics are superposition and entanglement. These two characteristics really have a significant impact on quantum computing. Superposition and entanglement will be utilized in quantum communications and information storage, respectively, in the future. Computers were typically controlled in bits, which are represented as 0 or 1. On the other hand, quantum computing makes use of quantum bits, or qubits, which exist in a condition known as the superposition state, which is a combination of 0 and 1. Let’s imagine that we can anticipate both a head and a tail result when a coin is thrown. However, a coin can exist in both the head and tail states in a quantum world. In physics, you may have studied the dual nature of light. We discovered that light behaves as both a wave and a particle in Young’s Double Slit Experiment with Interference Pattern. The method of experimentation determines the character of light. demonstrated how light...

Hello World! in Quantum Computing

“Hello World!” will be everyone’s first program. In the context of quantum computing, this is very different. In quantum computing, implementing superposition and entanglement is akin to writing a hello world program. This blog discusses the implementation of several fundamental quantum gates used in quantum computing. For implementation, I’m utilizing IBM’s Qiskit open-source package and the Python programming language. Please review my earlier blogs on superposition and entanglement, as well as quantum gates and qiskit, before delving into the implementation, assuming you are familiar with or at least have a basic understanding of the Python programming language. Qiskit is an open-source software development kit for working with quantum computers at the level of circuits, pulses, and algorithms. It provides tools for creating and manipulating quantum programs and running them on prototype quantum devices on IBM Quantum Platform or on simulators on a local computer. Before starti...
